Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced caregiver to provide visiting care 2-3 days a week for a 37-year-old client with arthritis, severe ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis. This role involves companionship care, cooking, housekeeping, and personal care, tailored to meet the client’s specific needs and fluctuating condition. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with personal care, such as washing and hair care, including support with showering. Helping with meal preparation, batch cooking, and refilling water bottles. Feeding and caring for two cats when the client’s husband is away. Supporting mobility within the flat, including helping the client move between rooms and ensuring stability with crutches. Assisting with decluttering the home, working collaboratively with the client when they are able. Taking out bins and managing household tasks like tidying and washing up. Providing companionship, whether through shared activities like board games (when possible) or simply being present in the same room to offer comfort and support (body doubling). Understanding and accommodating the client’s noise and light sensitivity, as well as helping manage sleep attacks by waking the client after 20-30 minutes if appropriate. Supporting the client in maintaining focus on their online MSc in Computer Science by being a calming and encouraging presence. This position requires someone with a deep understanding of ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, and related conditions, who is patient, empathetic, and respectful of the client’s needs, limitations, and fluctuating energy levels. Care is needed within the next month, and the role is privately funded. The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients with similar conditions and an understanding of how to provide both practical assistance and emotional reassurance.
